Pos:
Athletic quarterback who comes off a career campaign and has tremendous upside for the next level. Patient in the pocket, sells ball fakes and keeps his eyes downfield to look for receivers. Senses pressure, remains poised and does not make poor choices under the rush. Displays good timing and does not make receivers wait on the ball. Patient, buys time for wideouts and quickly gets the ball out of his hands. Possesses enough arm strength to drive the ball downfield and get passes through tight windows. Takes the safe underneath outlet if nothing else is available. Protects the football, does not throw poor interceptions and secures the ball when tackled. Elusive as a ball carrier with the ability to slip defenders, gets outside the pocket and make plays with his legs. Shows a great sense of where his receivers are on the field. Quickly sets up in the pocket when he takes snaps under center. Changes his point of release to get the ball away. Athletic, picks up yardage with his legs and shows playmaking ability as a ball carrier.
Neg:
Though accurate, he must improve his pass placement, especially down the field. When he misses, he's usually high of the mark. Must learn to put touch on throws and set up screen passes better.
Analysis:
Haskins burst onto the scene as a first-year starter at Ohio State. He seemingly improved every game and came up big in key spots with few bumps in the road. He possesses great upside, and while he may not be immediately NFL-ready, Haskins can be a longtime starter at the next level if properly coached and given time to develop his game.
