Pos:
Explosive, game-impacting defender who could be used as a three-technique tackle or possibly a two-gap end. Athletic, fluid and shows outstanding movement skills. Fires off the snap with a terrific first step, displays outstanding hand technique and easily changes direction. Possesses outstanding lateral speed and looks like a linebacker in pursuit of ball carriers to the flanks. Disruptive force who consistently gets leverage on opponents and fires through gaps behind the line of scrimmage. Keeps his feet moving and attracts double-team blocks in the middle of the field. Constantly accounted for by opponents. Plays with a nasty attitude. Relatively instinctive.
Neg:
Lacks bulk and power and gets easily controlled by a single blocker. May not have great growth potential.
Analysis:
Oliver has been a dominant defender and a player opponents game-planned around since his freshman season. He's a first-step lineman who is best as a three-technique tackle or defensive end in a three-man line that employs a one-gap scheme. Oliver comes with decent upside but never ranked with the upper-echelon defenders in this year’s draft.
