It was a big day for defensive tackle Ed Oliver, and all indications are that the early first-round pick exceeded expectations. Cornerback Isaiah Johnson, who was terrific at the combine, also impressed scouts with his performance. Here’s the latest.

As expected, there was a huge crowd on hand for Oliver. Brentson Buckner of the Oakland Raiders and Mike Vrabel of the Tennessee Titans were two of the coaches who helped run the workout. I’m told Oliver did defensive-line drills and looked outstanding but did not do any linebacker work.

As I posted on Twitter, the “official numbers” for Oliver included 4.73 seconds in the 40, 4.22 seconds in the short shuttle and 7.15 seconds in the three-cone.

Several watches had Oliver at 4.69 seconds during the 40, and his short shuttle was clocked as fast as 4.19 seconds by some.

Presently a few of the teams on Oliver’s official visit list include the Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, Oakland Riders, New York Jets, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons.

Oliver, presently graded as the seventh-best prospect on the DraftAnalyst board, has been all over draft boards. We tried to explain the insanity of this during our podcast on Wednesday.

Isaiah Johnson stood on his combine numbers, which were exceptional, but participated in position drills and looked great.

While I've mentioned the potential of moving Johnson to safety, I've been told teams throughout the league have penciled him in at cornerback.

Johnson met with the Denver Broncos and has an official-30 visit with the team. He and his family also spoke with Kris Richard of the Dallas Cowboys at length. The opinion leaving pro day is that Johnson has cemented himself as a Day 2 selection.
