Scouting the AAC - SMU

When Courtland Sutton was selected in the second round last April, it marked only the third time in the past 20 years that SMU had a player drafted in the top 75 picks. Next year, the best they’ll do is a last-day pick.

The Mustangs have three players in the secondary to keep an eye on, with two of them being juniors.

Rodney Clemons offers solid size and ball skills and shows a lot of ability in center field. He’s constantly around the action making positive plays, and I especially like Clemons’ ability to make plays with his back to the ball.

Jordan Wyatt is a nice-sized corner who flashes skill. Rarely challenged by opponents, he plays physical football but needs to step up his consistency.

Mikial Onu is a quick, speedy safety with a physical game. Best playing downhill, he struggles over the slot receiver and must improve his cover skills.

Nick Natour is well-liked in the scouting community and has nice upside. He’s athletic, moves very well on his feet and projects well in a zone-blocking scheme.
