Scouting the AAC - Temple

A season filled with injuries to major offensive stars led to a somewhat disappointing campaign for the Owls. The top players, all seniors, are back and have an opportunity to improve their draft grades.

Entering the 2017 season, I graded Delvon Randall higher than his teammate Sean Chandler, who was given a third-round grade by scouts. Randall has excellent size, plays with an aggressive nature and is effective defending the run or covering the pass. He’s more of a traditional strong safety type and comes with a special-teams mentality.

Ventell Bryant is a nice-sized possession wideout with reliable hands. He consistently wins out for the contested grab and projects well as a fifth receiver at the next level. Bryant saw a big dip in production last season after playing in just 10 games, as he struggled with an ankle issue. He needs a big season to move into the last day but has upside.

Ryquell Armstead also struggled with injuries, but at the top of his game he’s a bigger back with solid quickness and the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He’ll do well as a rotational running back at the next level.
